Our Jewelry Quality

Implant Grade

Our jewelry is made from materials that are biocompatible, which means they’re safe for long-term wear in your body. You don’t have to worry about things like jewelry that might tarnish, have a coating that wears off, or cause irritation if you’re sensitive to certain metals (like nickel).

Plus, all of our jewelry can handle the high heat and pressure used in medical-grade sterilization, ensuring that it stays clean and safe.

High-Polish

Nicks and grooves in jewelry can harbor bacteria, exposing it to your healing piercing. Our jewelry is high-polish to avoid this.

Repairs

We stand by the quality of our jewelry. If your piece is in need of repair, please send us an email at info@dorjeadornments.com

Flatback Posts

The studs that we use for piercings attach onto a titanium flatback post, making it safe to wear and super comfortable.

Sizing

Our flatback posts come in multiple different sizes. This allows us to completely customize your stud to fit you.

Downsizing

We pierce you with a slightly longer post to accomodate for the initial swelling of a piercing. Flatback posts allow us to change the length of your jewelry so you can keep the decorative end you invested in.

Internally Threaded

Some lower-quality jewelry has external threading — This means the post (the part that goes through your piercing) has a screw on the outside, and the decorative end has a hole that twists onto it.

The problem? That screw can be rough and scratchy. When it goes through your piercing, it can irritate the tissue and carry bacteria into the channel, which isn’t good for healing or long-term wear.

We only use internally threaded or threadless jewelry. That means the post is smooth and polished with nothing to catch or drag through the piercing.

Threadless and Threaded Studs

The studs that we use for piercings attach onto a flatback post.

Threadless studs have a small ‘pin’ that slides into your post, allowing it to be held by tension. To remove, pull the decorative end and the post apart.

Threaded studs screw into a post instead. To remove, unscrew the piece counter-clockwise.

Hoops & Rings

We carry a variety of different hoops, huggies, and rings.

Seam Rings

These hoops are best inserted by piercers. They bend open and close, making them secure. If you plan on keeping the same piece in your piercing long term and don’t need to change or remove it yourself, these are a great option. You run the risk of distorting the jewelry by attempting to remove it yourself.

Clickers

These hoops have a hinge and allow you to easily ‘click’ the ring open or close. While we still recommend having us help you insert them, they’re best for those who would like to change their piece themselves or need to remove it.

Gold Jewelry

We carry a large collection of implant-grade gold jewelry, from studs, rings, barbells, and more. Choose from yellow, white, or rose gold!

Solid Gold

All gold jewelry at Dorje is solid 14k or 18k gold — We do not carry plated jewelry. Plated jewelry can fade over time, exposing less-than-ideal metals underneath, which is detrimental for piercings.

Allergens and Biocompatibility

Gold jewelry is made when you mix pure gold (which is very soft) with other metals (known as alloys) to increase durability. Nickel is the most common surface irritant in the world, and is frequently used in traditional gold jewelry to increase shine. Rest assured that our gold is specifically manufactured for piercing in mind, meaning it is free of nickel and cadmium.

Titanium Jewelry

Not all metals are created equal. We exclusively use titanium that is ASTM F-136, the most common type of titanium for medical implants and high quality body jewelry.

Biocompatibility

Our titanium is highly biocompatible, safe for long term contact with the body. It is free of nickel or copper, common irritants that can discolor.

Durability

Titanium is a very hard, durable metal. It is resistant most damage including scratches and nicks as well as corrosion. It is affordable without compromising quality!

All of our flatback posts will be in titanium, and we carry decorative titanium stud options.
